The project "Terminology planning strategy and terminology infrastructure for Mongolia to support scientific and educational development and innovation" was successfully completed by the end of 2024. The project was a joint effort between the Centre for Translation Studies (ZTW), the Austrian Academy of Sciences, and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The principal investigator was Dr. Vesna Lušicky of TRTC and the project received funding by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF).
As part of the project, a strategic roadmap was developed to support terminology planning and infrastructure in Mongolia in the long term. Several local workshops were organized to ensure coordination and sustainable collaboration among stakeholders while raising awareness of terminology. Mongolian researchers were trained in terminology to enable them to continue this work independently. Additionally, a virtual terminology center was established to provide digital access to terminological resources in Mongolia. The project culminated in an international conference on terminology science under the patronage of the President of Mongolia, where the project results were presented.
